QuickTrace M‑8000

QuickTrace M‑8000

Description

The QuickTrace® M-8000 Cold Vapor Atomic Fluorescence (CVAF) mercury analyzer is ideal for ultra-trace to sub-mg/L mercury quantitation. Due to the high sensitivity of the M-8000, it easily achieves the ultra-trace detection limit of <0.05 ng/L total mercury that is demanded by customers following EPA method 1631. The QuickTrace® M-8000 is also versatile enough to analyze samples >400 µg/L without dilution in a research or industrial setting.

The QuickTrace® M-8000 mercury analyzer supports three software selected modes of operation (without hardware or tubing configuration changes) to quickly match your analytical requirements. When a method is selected in the software, the instrument switches between ultra-trace analysis and low mg/L analysis, saving method configuration time and eliminating costly mistakes.

Modes include:

  • Mode 1: Cold Vapor Atomic Fluorescence Spectroscopy (CVAFS)
  • Mode 2: Cold Vapor Atomic Fluorescence Spectroscopy Single Gold Trap Amalgamation (CVAFS-SGTA)
  • Mode 3: Cold Vapor Atomic Fluorescence Spectroscopy Double Gold Trap Amalgamation (CVAFS-DGTA)

An exceptionally stable and reliable fluorescence analyzer, the QuickTrace® M-8000 is based on the time-tested CVAF technique. The system is controlled by the Windows®-based, QuickTrace Software, which was designed for efficient method configuration, sequence creation, reporting of results and multi-tasking.

Additionally, cost-saving features such as shut down of the flowing rinse and slowing of the SnCl2 flow during gold trap desorption, result in saving thousands of dollars per year in reduced reagent and waste costs.

For ultra-trace analysis, Teledyne Leeman Labs recommends the addition of our autosampler enclosure to protect the samples from contamination (such as dust particles) that could possibly lead to errors in determination. Additionally the autosampler enclosure also protects your investment from harsh acid gases which are normally present in and around digested samples.

Features

The triple mode, no enrichment, single or double gold amalgamation QuickTrace M-8000 CVAF is the system of choice for labs wanting to meet the most stringent reporting limits for academic research or enhanced waste discharge limits demanded by the “Clean Water Act”.

  • Non-foaming Gas Liquid Separator (GLS) with overflow prevention system
  • Automatic end of run and inactivity standby routines
  • ≤ 0.05 ng/L instrument detection limits
  • Advanced contamination control, over range and smart rinse features
  • Intuitive gas controls eliminating air infusion into the system during sample probe movements during mode 2 and 3 analysis
  • EPA 1631 and EPA 245.7 compliant (gold amalgamation modes)
  • “Smart Rack” technology
  • 12-roller 4-channel peristaltic pump
  • Sample volume 0.5 mL to > 50 mL
  • Unlimited QC sample positions

Performance

The QuickTrace M-8000 CVAF analyzer is designed for exceptional short and long-term stability. Using 25 mL or less of sample, an Instrument Detection Limit (IDL) less than 0.02 ng/L is typical using gold trap modes. When consuming less than 10 mL of sample, the M-8000 consistently achieves an IDL less than 0.1 ng/L in non-gold trap mode.

  • Ultra-trace Instrument Detection Limit (IDL) (≤0.05 ng/L)
  • Linearity greater than four orders of magnitude
  • Dynamic range <0.05 ng/L to >400 µg/L
  • In Mode 1, by response comparison to a 100 ng/L standard, the system exhibits <0.01% memory effect of a 1 mg/L standard, immediately following the ingestion of a 1 part per million (mg/L) sample
  • In Mode 1, without employing the system’s smart rinse technology, the analyzer is ready to accurately measure a sample within four minutes following the ingestion of a 1 ppm sample
  • In Mode 2 and 3 – short-term precision (%RSD @ 95% Confidence) = 2.5% @ 5 ng/L, n=5
